Doctors Think They Find Tumor In Teen Boy But Can’t Believe What It Really Turns Out To Be

Talk about a traumatic experience, this poor teen from Malaysia must have been completely creeped out knowing that he was carrying his own dead twin for 15 years!!!

As if the idea of carrying twins for nine months weren’t already daunting enough, imagine the prospect of having to carry your own twin for 15 years.

Such was the case for Mohd Zul Shahril Saidin, a Malaysian teenager who had to have the fetus of his unborn twin removed from his stomach this week. Medically referred to as “fetus in fetu,” the teenager had been living with the fetus inside of him for his whole life before it began to cause him pain over the past four months. After being admitted into the Baling District Hospital, he was eventually referred to a specialist at the Sultan Abdul Hamid Hospital in Sungai Petani, who diagnosed his problem.

As his mother told Bernama, the fetus — which was originally believed to have been a tumor — “was formed with organs like those of a baby,” and “only the nose and mouth were not complete.” According to multiple reports, the fetus had already developed legs, hands, hair, and genitals; and the family has already performed funeral rites for it.

According to the BBC, this is believed to be the first reported case of fetus in fetu in Malaysia, but the abnormality is as common as 1 in 500,000 live births.

“It’s almost like a vanishing twin, or sometimes called a parasitic twin,” Dr. S. Raman told the BBC. “I have actually seen a case of the fetus being attached to the outside of the living twin, so it’s possible for the twin to be both inside or outside the body.”

Neither Mohd Zul Shahril nor the doctors involved with the surgery have yet spoken to the media.

In the end, the boy will be just fine though. I don’t know about you but that just creeps me out.
