The incident unfolded on Sunday, at the St. John the Apostle Church in Ellettsville, according to police.
A group of people in Indiana, were rushed to a hospital after they unknowingly ate marijuana cookies given out in church by a fellow congregant.
According to the police investigation, the cookies were distributed following the church’s prayer services. After a few minutes, the six people, aged between 12 and 70, began feeling ill.
The only common factor among those who fell ill was the cookies. The urine of all those affected tested positive for cannabinoids.
The six congregants suffered symptoms, including high blood pressure, anxiety, lethargy and paranoia. They were all taken to the IU Health Bloomington Hospital, where they were treated and released.
The person who distributed the cookies, is a long-time member of the church. So far, no charges have been filed.
