Here are fourteen things other than the gorilla story that you can be mad at:
1. Dozens of dead tiger cubs were just found in a freezer at Thailand’s “Tiger Temple” (a tourist attraction where visitors could take photos of themselves feeding baby tigers). Authorities think that animal trafficking and abuse are implicated.

2. The recently published “Global Slavery Index” estimates that there are 46 million people around the world who can be classified as slaves. That there are so many classifications of human exploitation is deeply depressing.

4. Alligators are eating people and/or strolling around carelessly on golf courses. Not only is that terrifying, but it also suggests that they might take over the role of sharks in this summer’s headlines.

11. Three years into the Flint water crisis, authorities now say that the municipal water is safe enough for bathing and hand-washing. Drinking and cooking, however, are still out of the question.
12. Every week there seems to be a new story about an inappropriate relationship between a teacher and student. A middle school teacher was reportedly impregnated by a thirteen-year-old student.
And finally….
14. We’re still five months from the election.
