Rush Limbaugh caught one glaring word in the report that sent him through the roof, and it is not hard to see why.
Conservative talker Rush Limbaugh wasn’t very happy when he discovered the Democrats’ Benghazi report mentions Donald Trump, who “wasn’t even on the public scene when Benghazi happened,” 23 times.
“He might have been on TV commenting about it as an infrequent guest,” Limbaugh said on his radio program Tuesday, “but what did Trump have to do with Benghazi? Nothing. But that’s not the point.”
According to Limbaugh, Trump was invoked by the Democrats, who titled their report, “Honoring Courage, Improving Security, and Fighting Political Exploitation of a Tragedy,” in order to “provide the media a guidance.”
Limbaugh said that, through their report, the Democrats are telling the press, “OK, media! Here’s what we want you to do. This is how we want you to cast and to characterize the Benghazi report.”
In fact, Trump is mentioned in the report more than Navy SEALs Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty, who were both killed in the deadly 2012 attack, combined. Ambassador Chris Stevens and State Department information specialist Sean Smith, both of whom were also killed, are mentioned 85 and 36 times, respectively.
“[Woods and Doherty’s] names, when you add the number of mentions, do not come anywhere near to equaling the number of times the Democrats mention Trump in their report on Benghazi,” Limbaugh said.
The presence of the presumptive GOP nominee in the report is somewhat ironic, given the Democrats have long accused the Republican Party of politicizing the attack at Benghazi by using the investigation to target Hillary Clinton.
