House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) says FBI Director James Comey will testify before his panel Thursday regarding his decision to not recommend criminal charges against Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server.
In a statement, according to Politico, Chaffetz said, “Congress and the American people have a right to understand the depth and breadth of the FBI’s investigation.”
While Comey criticized the former Secretary of State’s “extremely careless” handling of classified material, no charges were filed against her.
As reported by Breitbart TV, Chaffetz discussed Comey and whether he planned to call the Director before his Oversight Committee while on Fox News Channel’s “Special Report” Tuesday:
Discussing Comey, Chaffetz said, “He has the greatest of reputations, a man of great integrity. But if you look at just the basic fact pattern why not hand that to the prosecutors and let them make the political decision? I wonder if you look back at director — former CIA Director Deutch, this is a person who plugged their computer into the internet—the Justice Department was going to prosecute him. President Clinton offered that person a pardon. So, this has been prosecuted or at least attempted to be prosecuted in the past. Why the difference now?”
