Last night, really was the first time in my 28 years as a police officer, that I had observed the level of violence that was directed towards public servants. It’s really a disgrace.

As protesters of Black Lives Matter continue demonstrations, once peaceful rallies have taken a violent turn.
Over the weekend, thousands of demonstrators shut down I-94 in St. Paul, Minnesota after the police shooting of Philando Castile. The mob-mentality has turned protestors brutal, and another victim was claimed.
Police blocked the Interstate.

According to KARE 11, a St. Paul officer had his spine broken after a protester reportedly dropped a slab of concrete onto him during a Black Lives Matter protest. The officer’s identity was not released.
The department tweeted, “We were just informed that the officer who had a concrete block dropped on his head during I-94 riot has broken vertebrae.”
St. Paul Police reported that 21 officers were injured throughout the city during the protest. 50 people were arrested for rioting on I-94, and another 52 were arrested on charges of “public nuisance and unlawful assembly during an incident.”
St. Paul Police Chief Todd Axtell commented on the situation during a press conference.
“Last night, really was the first time in my 28 years as a police officer, that I had observed the level of violence that was directed towards public servants. It’s really a disgrace. Protesters last night turned into criminals. I’m absolutely disgusted by the actions of some. We will not tolerate it.”
Atell said that when protesters allegedly began to throw bricks, glass bottles and rocks at police, “the tone changed,” and a protest turned into a riot.
Some even threw fireworks at officers.

He explained that some protesters brought their children and basically used them as human shields against the police.
