Everyone knows the loyalty of a dog is unmatched. They are our friends and sometimes our protectors. One South Carolina family has learned just how valuable it could be to have such a loyal companion when the family dog alerted them of abuse the babysitter was dishing out on their young child.
Benjamin and Hope hired 22-year-old Alexis Khan to care for their seven-month-old son, Finn. The new parents from South Carolina took all the right steps. Not only did they feel Kahn was a good fit, but she came up clean in a background check. However, they began to notice their dog Killian became more protective over Finn, especially when Khan would walk through the door. Killian also grew more aggressive with the babysitter, until one day, Benjamin and Hope decided to listen to their instincts.
Hope slipped an iPhone under the couch and recorded what happened while she and Benjamin were at work. Later that day, they listened to the tape and were horrified when they heard cussing, slapping, crying and yelling. Khan had been abusing their baby, and Killian’s behavior led them to the truth. If it wasn’t for this heroic pup, who knows how long the abuse would have lasted.
Kahn was sentenced to up to three years in prison and was placed on a child abuse registry.
Just like the famous cat who saved her brother’s life, the entire country hails Killian a hero and the story went viral.
