After a long day, Santanu Paul just wanted to go home and get some rest but things turned out very differently when he got home from the cancer research center and was suddenly attacked and robbed leaving him bloodied and beaten.
According to Fox4KC:
A cancer researcher hopes police will find the man who attacked him Monday evening after he left work at KU Med Center.
Santanu Paul, 34, is originally from India but has lived in Kansas City, Kan., for a job he really enjoys.
“We are trying to make some betterment for the people who are suffering from cancer,” Paul said.
He has lived at the Malvern Hill Apartments, 3942 Adams, for about three years. He says on Monday he arrived home at about 6:30 p.m. and parked his car in the parking lot. He was getting out of his car when a robber approached him from behind and hit him repeatedly in his face with a hard object.
“When I leaned back, they’re hitting more. They’re hitting more in my face and then I fell out,” Paul said. “Thank God that my eyes are safe, but this eye socket. This is broken and my nose is broken,” Paul showed FOX 4’s Robert Townsend his injuries.
The robber stole his wallet.
“I fell down and I realized that my wallet is being taken out from my pocket,” he said.
There was $40 inside Paul’s wallet.
Paul was disoriented but said he believes the man hopped in a waiting car.
“I didn’t see his face,” Paul says.
Paul’s wife wept when she saw him.
“My wife was shocked. She was crying like anything,” he said.
She was in disbelief and so is he, that it happened just minutes after he left work.
“It happened in front of my home. I cannot digest,” he said. “I’m really saddened about what is going on in the USA.”
Hopefully, someone figures out who is responsible for this cowardly attack and gets justice for the victim.
