Media Is Astonished After Hearing Trump’s Statement About Mock Debates

Presidential nominees Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton have entered the final stretch of the 2016 presidential race by going all out. The two candidates have traded ferocious blows in recent days, and now all eyes have begun to focus on the first presidential debate at the end of September.

While Clinton has reportedly been preparing for the debates in the usual way — digging through research binders, memorizing lines and participating in mock debates — The New York Times reported that Trump was going about preparing for the debates in a slightly different way.

While he was spending time preparing for them, Trump has decided to not participate in any mock debates because he doesn’t want to come across as “phony.”

“I believe you can prep too much for those things,” Trump explained. “It can be dangerous. You can sound scripted or phony — like you’re trying to be someone you’re not.”



While Trump’s approach may buck conventional wisdom, this isn’t the first time he has done this. Trump pretty much broke every political rule during the Republican primary and won handily.

Trump’s freewheeling speech has gotten him in a trouble a few times, but more than that it has stirred up millions of voters who like to see someone who comes across as authentic — something Clinton could never do.
