Clinton Running Mate Not Aware Of Pneumonia Diagnosis Till After Collapse

Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine (Va.) admitted Tuesday that he was not informed about Hillary Clinton’s pneumonia diagnosis until after she collapsed and needed to be helped into her car by Secret Service agents Sunday morning.

When asked when he was “notified about this pneumonia diagnosis,” Kaine claimed “We talked Sunday. And I reached out to her as soon as I heard about the incident.”

The reporter pressed Kaine, asking, “Don’t you think that was a little delayed, given what could have been the seriousness of the issue?”

Kaine did not see this as a problem, citing his own personal experience with the same illness: “I ran my first city council race in 1994, and I had pneumonia in the middle of my city council race, and I powered through it,” invoking the Clinton campaign’s now-famous talking-point — “power through.”
