Here's What REALLY Happened When Trump's Phone Rang On Election Night

If you think Hillary was wrong to skip the concession speech, you REALLY won’t like the phone call!

The Nation stayed awake until well past midnight. Donald Trump was appearing to shock the world, and now that the results are in, many of us are still in shock.

Around two o’clock in the morning, Trump was leading, but a few key states still had not reported all of their voting data. When Hillary Clinton’s Campaign Chairman, John Podesta, took the podium, and announced that we would wait until all the votes were counted to hear from Hillary, most of us believed him. We remember what happened during the Bush/Gore Election, so it made sense that the victory and concession speeches would have to wait.

After Podesta’s short speech to the remaining Clinton supporters, it appeared that the night was over. Then something strange happened.

NYMag reports:

Shortly after 2 a.m., Trump’s advisers heard that Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta was headed to the Javits Center to address devastated Clinton supporters. “We thought that was odd,” Conway said. “So we said let’s go to a holding room” — at the Hilton — “and we can hunker down and watch the returns from there.”

Trump’s advisers arrived at the Hilton and waited for Fox News to call the election. Around 2:30 a.m., Conway’s cell phone rang. It was Huma Abedin calling on behalf of her boss, Hillary Clinton. She was ready to concede. “Hi, Kellyanne, it’s Huma. Is Mr. Trump available?” Abedin said, according to Conway. Conway passed the phone. Conway recalled Trump’s end of the conversation: “He said, ‘You’re a smart, tough lady and you ran a great campaign. Thank you for calling. I respect you.” Conway said they spoke for about a minute.

Fox News called the election for Trump a few minutes later. Howls of “F*ck, man! … We the president, bro!” erupted from a throng of broad-shouldered 20-somethings standing near me.

Apparently, not only did Hillary Clinton skip the concession speech, she had her top assistant, Huma Abedin, make the concession phone call.

Donald Trump, on the other hand, was gracious in his victory speech.

Are you surprised that Hillary’s concession phone call actually came from the embattled Huma Abedin?

I suppose, it was better than Hillary trying to send another email.
