In response, Babalú Blog has compiled a list of the most evil atrocities committed by Castro, and we’re going to take a look at the top three.
# 3 On Feb. 24, 1996, a mission by Brothers to the Rescue, a humanitarian organization based in Miami and made up of Cuban exile pilots, was shot down over international waters by Cuban air force MiG jets. Two unarmed aircraft carrying civilians were shot down, resulting in the deaths of all four people on board.
# 2 On July 13, 1994, during the “special period” in Cuba — which described the devastating austerity in the country following the fall of the Soviet Union that had been subsidizing the island nation — 72 Cubans boarded a state-owned tugboat to escape the dire situation they faced.
About 45 minutes after their departure aboard the 13 de Marzo, other state-owned tugboats caught them and killed 41 of the passengers — including 10 children.
Those who escaped the sinking boat were later “rescued” by the Cuban coast guard. They were then taken to the Villa Marista Detention Center where the women and children were released and the men were detained.
Survivors have attested that those who sprayed them with the hoses were dressed in civilian clothes and did nothing to help them as 41 people died.
# 1 Castro had his infamous firing squads meant to “enforce discipline, punish followers deemed disloyal or intimidate potential opposition,” as described by Babalú Blog. The videos below speak volumes about the Castro regime — but be forewarned, they are extremely graphic:
Ernesto “Che” Guevara, whom some on the left disturbingly revere and whose image appears on T-shirts and posters popular with young Americans, once said of the firing squads that Castro’s authorities either gave no trial at all or a “show trial” before the execution: “To send men to the firing squad, judicial proof is unnecessary. These procedures are an archaic bourgeois detail. This is a revolution. And a revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate.”
Since Jan. 1, 1959, when Castro took over, 3,615 firing squad executions took place, according to the Cuba Archive. Guevara had his murderous hand in at least 100, in some cases even killing the victim himself. In addition, 1,253 extrajudicial killings outside of the firing squads have been attributed to the Castro regime.
This is what the left has revered after Castro’s death. It is shocking and disturbing to see the left make excuses for Castro’s brutal regime, but that’s exactly what they have done.
