Miss USA Not Just Another Pretty Face and Killer Body

This young lady has already made history as being the first woman serving actively in the U.S. military to win the Miss USA contest. I guarantee this lieutenant lights up a room when she enters and has the men who serve under her at full attention, if you know what I mean.

Deshauna Barber isn’t just a 27-year-old beauty queen, she’s also an IT analyst, a captain in the Army, and commander of the 988th Quartermaster Detachment at Fort Meade in Maryland.

Eight months ago, Barber was crowned Miss USA, and on Sunday she competed for the chance to be named Miss Universe.

During the two-week competition, the Army reservist nailed the answer to the question, “What do you want most people to know about you?”:

“I can fix your computer and I can fight off a 250 pound man trying to steal your computer.”

She also exuded her nationality with pride.

During the national costume portion of the competition, Barber dressed like the superhero she is:

Fully equipped with a cape:

As well as a shield:

The 27-year-old looked fierce and powerful walking down the runway.

Barber also admitted that she had one very special person helping her from above over the last few weeks.

Five months after being crown Miss USA, Barber’s mom — who was also a member of the United States military — passed away after a long battle with cancer.

Barber said:

“I know that she will be standing next to me every step of the way.”

While Barber was named one of the final nine contestants still in the running, she was not crowned Miss Universe, as that honor went to Miss France.

But that won’t stop Barber from continuing to serve the United States by being an advocate for soldiers suffering from PTSD.

We salute you, Captain Barber, and thank you for your service.
