A man was arrested for exploding a fireworks shop before the Spring Festival in Hanzhong City of northwest China’s Shaanxi Province.
The explosion took place on the evening of January 21, when the fireworks shop exploded and burnt to the ground, igniting a neighboring motorbike store and burnt more than 30 motorbikes. Fortunately there was no human casualty.
The police investigation found that the explosion was no accident but man-made.
Although the fire and explosion destroyed many video cameras in the fireworks shop, some surveillance videos still managed to show a man was highly suspected.
The police finally arrested a 45-year-old man, surnamed Li.
Investigations showed that Li had illegally stored 259 sets of fireworks at home. He was unreconciled after police confiscated the illicit fireworks and entrusted them to be stored at the fireworks shop.
Police said Li bought a box of fireworks from the shop and lit it up in front of it after getting drunk on Jan. 21.
The arsonist, a 45-year old man who goes by “Li”, has been arrested. Further investigation is still under way.
