San Antonio – A local man was arrested and charged with the murder of a woman who died under gruesome circumstances.
According to an affidavit, 30-year-old Javier Hernandez of San Antonio was arrested in connection with the death of a woman who a witness said was a prostitute.
Firefighters responded to a garage fire at Harding Place Jan. 22 and found a human body in the garage. An arson-sniffing dog detected the presence of an accelerant, such as gasoline.
Surveillance video showed a dark-colored truck pulling out of the garage at 5:02 a.m. about half an hour before the same video shows the garage ablaze.
An autopsy showed that the victim was a white female of Hispanic ethnicity ranging in age between 18 to late 30s. Positive identification of the woman has not yet been established.
The affidavit said that a witness came forward Feb. 23 and told investigators that Hernandez admitted to strangling the woman before burning the body in the garage. The witness also said that Hernandez was excited and full of “adrenaline” when he told him that an acquaintance had sex with the woman’s body after she was dead.
