Cell phone video captured the dramatic moment when a pickup truck got some serious airtime during the climax of a dramatic police chase which looked like a scene straight out of the “Dukes of Hazzard.”
It started simply enough when a deputy stopped the driver of a Toyota Tacoma for speeding, according to the Webster Parish Sheriff’s Office. As the driver spoke to the officer outside the truck, the passenger, 18-year-old Kevonte Dekorey, got in the driver’s seat and hit the gas.
The suspect led police on a wild chase that ended with his truck hitting spike strips and flying into the air in spectacular fashion.
The truck landed on top of another vehicle, but thankfully the person escaped without any injuries.
Police eventually arrested Dekorey, who had escaped his work release program on Feb. 10.
