Savannah Jones, 14, was babysitting her 4 year old niece in their home at California on a Tuesday night when an unidentified man who she described as a “bald black man wearing a dark coloured sweatshirt and jeans”.
The intruder knocked on the front door before trying to open it by the handle. Jones quickly took her niece, Zoyee, to the master bedroom where she texted her mother for help as she hears the suspect breaking in by knocking down the door.
Maria Muratalla, their mom, was unfortunately stuck in traffic when she received the disturbing text so she contacted their nearby neighbor for help who then contacted the police and rushed to the scene.
Before police arrived, the girls who went into hiding inside a bathroom could hear the intruder rummaging through their family’s belongings, going into various rooms including the master’s bedroom where the bathroom they were in was connected.
“I kept staring at the door and hoping he wouldn’t try to open it.”, said the teen and admittedly mentioned that she was more concerned for her niece’s safety than herself.
By the time authorities arrived, the robber had already escaped and is still on the loose causing great concern and agony for the parties involved.
