52-year-old Judith Elizabeth Richards-Gartee, a substitute teacher at Lexington 2 High School in Lexington County, South Carolina was reportedly so intoxicated that she puked on the floor of the classroom she was teaching in. The teacher had to be taken to Lexington Medical Center, according to the report.
“She had a box of wine in her bag that was opened, and students said she was consuming the wine during class,” the report said.
A sheriff’s deputy arrived a short time later. The report says Richards-Gartee was then placed in a wheelchair and rolled into the nurse’s office until EMS arrived to transport her to the hospital.
Richards-Gartee was arrested following the incident.
Richards-Gartee was in possession of an open container of alcohol when she was arrested and was charged with disorderly conduct and released to the care of paramedics.
The school district since then issued this statement:
On Friday, March 10, 2017, it was reported to the Administration of Brookland-Cayce School that a substitute teacher was behaving erratically and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. This substitute is not an employee of the District, but works for Kelly Services. Kelly contracts with the District to provide substitute teachers.
The Administration responded immediately, removing the substitute from the classroom and sending her to the School Resource Officer. The District has been advised that law enforcement has filed criminal charges against the Kelly employee.
I guess Richards-Gartee had too much School Of Rock, she decided to relive it, eh?
