Heidi McKinney pleaded guilty Friday to the assault charges she was given that was connected with the May 2016 incident — during which authorities said she grabbed a woman’s breasts and groin. She was charged from harrassing a female passenger on a flight last year and has admitted up to the crime.
The 27-year-old was allegedly arrested last May after her Alaska Airlines flight from Las Vegas landed at Portland International Airport. Other passengers told authorities that McKinney had forcibly assaulted an unnamed woman without her consent with the intent to humiliate and harass the victim.
According to reports, after making contact with the victim’s body, including her inner thigh, McKinney also did a series of profane and lewd statements to the victim.
After the arrest, McKinney’s fiance came to her defense and told authorities her girlfriend “doesn’t metabolize alcohol like the majority of people” and that “this is what happens as a result.”
McKinney has two previous drunk driving convictions, one in 2008 and another in 2015. Also recently completed an alcohol rehab program in Portland.
She was released after her arrest until her sentencing which is due on June 19 in which she could potentially face up to 10 years for the crime, but her attorney and Sinha plan to recommend three years probation. She is also suggested to avoid drugs and alcohol during her on going investigation.
