A 41-year-old man, who has not been identified to protect his daughter’s identity, pretended to be a 16-year-old boy by setting up accounts on Instagram, AOL and a texting service in September 2013. She tricked her into sending him nude photos of herself and then sexually abused her.
The alleged catfishing relationship began online, where the father who was posing as a 16yo pressured the girl into sending private photos of herself. She initially refused, but eventually sent some – which the father then used to blackmail her into sending some more, threatening that she would send them to her father if she refused to.
Then comes November, when all the ‘boy’ wanted to talk about was ‘sex and more sex’, according to the daughter, she then decided that she no longer wanted to be in the relationship and broke up with the ‘boy’.
After the break up, the girl received a text message from the supposed 16-year-old’s mother, claiming the teenager had killed himself. At which point, the father then claimed his daughter’s ‘dead boyfriend’ had sent him the nude images before ‘killing himself’.
The 41yo then began sexually assaulting his daughter. Authorities got involved when the daughter seeked help from their school nurse who notified the police about the harrassment. During the investigation, the police found out that the texts were all coming from within the girl’s home.
The father was arrested and pleaded guilty to 12 counts of child sex abuse where in his sentenced jail time could be up to 250 years.
