A 14 year old Florida teen, Naika Venant killed herself and her mother was taunting her until the very end.
Gina Caze, Naika’s mother, was a horrible mother. Several abuse incidents were recorded by officials as well as professional help was sought by the 14 year old. In the teens final moments, she posted a Facebook live video where she intended to commit suicide live on Facebook. Several people watched on in horror and pleaded with the teen to not follow through with the act. One person, however, didn’t plead with her to stop but instead pushed her even further to do it. That person is reportedly her own mother, Gina Caze. Gine reportedly said “#ADHD games played u sad little DCF custody jit (SIC) that’s why u where u at for this dumb s— n more u keep crying wolf (SIC) u dead u will get buried life goes on after a jit that doesn’t listen to their parents trying to be grown seeking boys and girls attention instead of her books (SIC).”.
While Naika was younger, her mother refused her of medical attention because she thought her daughter was faking it. In one reported incident, Gina stood in an ER with her daughter, and screamed at her and hospital personnel that her daughter was faking her condition. Naika has since been diagnosed with undisclosed chronic health condition. The abuse and horrendous treatment from her mother led Naika to a 17 month stay in foster care. While in foster care, Gina was given both supervised and unsupervised visits. Naika reported that her mother would beat her on the unsupervised visits.
This is a sad story of a poor 14 year old little girl confused on why her mother treated her the way that she did. Teenagers are tough to raise, that much is proven time and time again. But it’s important to remember that we too were teenagers at one point, and presented a level of a challenge to our parents as well. This mother had absolutely no business treating her daughter the way that she did. She deserves to rot in jail for quite some time because of the way that she dealt with her daughter and she should never be allowed to raise another child again. My heart breaks for Naika while reading and writing this story.
Report: Mother Allegedly Abused, Taunted Daughter During Facebook Live Suicide
A Florida mom is accused of allegedly taunting and abusing her 14-year-old daughter who committed suicide.
Local 10 News reports that Naika Venant hanged herself in a bathroom. Before doing so, she told a case manager she was sad her mom had given her up. Naika’s mother, Gina Caze, reportedly relinquished custody of her daughter.
Caze was allegedly among those who watched and commented as her daughter took to Facebook Live to record the horrific act. While others pleaded with the young teen not to end her life, it was reported to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) that someone who may have been related to the teen, taunted her.
Officials say the user posted under the name “Gina Alexis.” The following statement was allegedly written by Caze in the moments leading up to her daughter’s death, the DCFS said.
“#ADHD games played u sad little DCF custody jit (SIC) that’s why u where u at for this dumb s— n more u keep crying wolf (SIC) u dead u will get buried life goes on after a jit that doesn’t listen to their parents trying to be grown seeking boys and girls attention instead of her books (SIC).”
The department released a report Monday that noted the allegations against Caze and the events leading up to the teen’s death.
The Critical Incident Rapid Response Team found that Naika’s behavior issues, along with her mother’s use of punishment weren’t fully reviewed. The team’s review also concluded that treatment for Naika focused on the symptoms of her trauma, not the trauma itself. The relationship between Naika and Caze also wasn’t effectively addressed, due in part to Caze’s lack of cooperation, the team found.
The DCF first learned about Naika’s case was when she was 4 years old. At the time, she was left alone instead of being under the care of a male babysitter. When the child turned 5, Caze refused to admit her to be treated for a chronic health condition. According to the DCF, Caze stood in the emergency room and called her the child a liar and faker before threatening to send her back to their hometown of Haiti.
Five months later, Naika was beaten so badly to the point where she had 30 welps on her arms, legs and back. Naika and her mom then underwent assessments during the 17 months she was in foster care. At the time, the child disclosed that Caze would hit her whenever they had unsupervised visits.
“The impact of multiple risk factors can create cumulative risk, which was present and evident in Naika’s case,” the report said. “Of particular interest is Naika’s exposure to multiple forms of victimization, maltreatment and poor familial environments (parental monitoring, transitional living/ multiple placements), which are key suicidal risk factors. In Naika’s case, the above protective factors (strong/influential enough to give the youth hope and something to keep living for) were not consistently present in her life and it appears that Naika did not possess resilient traits to keep her safe.”
