Daniel Hendrix, a corrections deputy in the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, was celebrating his birthday with two female friends when he went into a fit and allegedly threatened the two female.
According to reports, Hendrix had appeared to have changed his demeanor, became agitated, armed himself with a personal firearm, and threatened the two women, who later managed to flee the home during the exchange.
When police officers responded to the scene, they found Hendrix, still armed, in the backyard of his home. One of the officers gave verbal commands for Hendrix to drop his weapon, but when he did not comply, the situation unfortunately escalated and resulted in one of the two responding officers firing his service weapon at least four times at Hendrix who later died after being brought to the hospital.
The district attorney general will decide whether the unidentified officer’s actions were justified.
