Lori Sheppard has been charged after her 10-month-old son was found unresponsive after she gave him bourbon to calm his teething problems down.
According to reports, Sheppard’s son was found unresponsive on the floor of their trailer home after she gave him a bottle of bourbon for his teeth.
Investigation says Sheppard had called her mom for advice regarding the little boy because he was currently teething and was unusually cranky. Her mother had instructed her to rub a little whiskey on the boy’s gum but Lori apparently did not hear the instructions well as she gave him a baby bottle with bourbon in it that had left him limp.
Sheppard called 911 and the child was airlifted to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Medical team who attended to the child’s needs detected .19 blood alcohol level on the 10 month old. He was treated and released. He’s currently with his siblings in the custody of DHS.
Sheppard initially denied knowing how her son got hold of the alcohol but had later fessed up.
Sheppard was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor and assault on a family member. She’s been released on a $10,000 bond.
