A Jamaican citizen named Mario Hudson, who allegedly dressed and pretended to be a Delta pilot complete in uniform and fake identification, was arrested after 5 pounds of cocaine was found hidden in a secret compartment in his suitcase at JFK airport.
Hudson had allegedly told the U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials he was a “dead-heading crew member” after his landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport on a flight coming from Kingston. A deadheading pilot is one re-positioning as part of an on-duty assignment. Unfortunately, during the baggage inspection, one of the Customs and Border Protection officers discovered the Jamaican citizen had a bag wit what appeared to be two fraudulent Delta Airlines ID badges on it causing the airport officials alarm and initiative to investigate the passenger further.
The 5 pounds of drugs found in his posession is an apparently equivalent to one heck load of money amounting to approximately $85,000 worth of cocaine.
According to reports, airport officials had noticed the sides and bottom of his luggage appeared to be unusually thick and heavy after which the authorities led him to be escorted a private room where a thorough baggage search was done revealing a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.
Hudson is now facing serious federal narcotics smuggling charges and will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the U.S. Eastern District Court of New York. The Jamaican citizen was arrested for the import of a controlled substance and was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.
Leon Hayward, the acting director of Field Operations in New York for CBP, said: ‘This seizure demonstrates the vigilance and dedication demonstrated daily by CBP officers at JFK, in keeping these prohibited and dangerous narcotics off the streets of our communities.’
Unfortunately for Hudson, Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Catch Me If You Can’ plot did not work for him.
