A 23 -year-old mother from Georgia had endured torturing and was held captive allegedly by her husband in front of their two-week-old son for days.
According to the report from WSB-TV Atlanta, Prosper Ortega was brutally and sexually assaulted, and tortured for two days inside the Atlanta home she shared with her husband, Aaron Uchitel.
In the news published on July 6, 2016 in the Independent News, it was found out that Ortega has actually suffered series of horrific injuries inflicted by husband over weeks. She said that she endured weeks of torture and beatings at the hands of her abusive husband in order to prevent him from leaving with their infant son.
After the 23-year-old attempted to escape from Uchitel through a bedroom window, Ms Ortega was allegedly tied to a bed and had all her hair cut off. Uchitel then threatened to pull his wife’s teeth out, before stabbing her in the chest and the back of the leg.
The beaten woman told authorities her husband had drugged her drinks, sexually assaulted her and beat her for two days. However, she said she refused to leave the property in an effort to protect her weeks-old baby, Ari, from further harm.
Police arrested Uchitel and charged him with aggravated battery, false imprisonment and cruelty to children after the victim’s mother, Fawn Ortega, became concerned and decided to check on her daughter.
Fawn she noticed Uchitel had been isolating Prosper from her so she went to their southwest Atlanta home to check on them. But she says he wouldn’t let her inside.
“I started to fight him. I was pushing him off and stuff,” she said.
“He was jabbing at her eyes, jabbing at her eyes so she couldn’t see the baby, and he cut her hair off and said, ‘I’m going to make it so where nobody will ever want you again,’” Ortega said.
“(I thought) she was gonna die,” Fawn Ortega said. “Everything was just so swollen and her little mouth.”
Ms Ortega was hospitalized at Grady Memorial Hospital and was unable to see clearly. The doctor said that she may never see again. In a Facebook post, her mother said that she is seeing ‘double vision and crossed.’
The family has created a GoFundMe to raise money for Prosper Ortega’s hospital bills and money to help raise her new born son, Ari. In more than two days, they have raised $58,500 of the $100,000 goal that will also help pay for the extensive medical procedures and physical and mental therapy Prosper Ortega will likely need to help rebuild her life.
Uchitel, who was imprisoned has reportedly confessed to hitting his wife “a couple of times” to police.
Fawn Ortega is now looking after her daughter’s little boy.
