Transgender prostitute Mayang Prasetyo met her partner Marcus Volke in Melbourne, Australia while he was secretly making money as a gigolo. After a lengthy period of dating, the two actually attempted to wed on August 1, 2013 in a small ceremony Denmark. But since Mayang was still a pre-op woman, their marriage wasn’t legally recognized.

For a majority of his life, Volke dealt with depression and several sleep disorders; when he was 16 years old, he was treated at the Ballarat Hospital in Victoria, Australia. After selling his services all over Europe and Asia, the man wanted to step away from his job and start anew as a dog breeder.
Unfortunately, an incident with his partner changed everything.
8. The Neighbors Heard Screaming
Like many married couples out there, Prasetyo and Volke have had their share of arguments. One night in October 2014, they had multiple disputes that lasted for nearly an hour. Many neighbors were concerned with the pair’s loud bickering; a handful of them were awoken by the constant screeching.
7. A Horrendous Decision
Scared that Prasetyo would expose his past as a gigolo to his family, Volke brutally murdered her. Worse, he ended up chopping up her body into little pieces and started broiling her remains in the electric stove until it blew out the apartment’s power.
A phone call would further complicate the situation for Volke.
6. Unaware Of What’s To Come
With a calm demeanor, Volke called Brad Coyne, who was a 24-hour electrician in the area. The murderer wanted to know if Coyne could come over to help turn the power back on. A few hours later, the electrician made his way to the front door unaware of what was happening.
5. The Smell Of Fear
A strong odor rushed past the technician, which nearly knocked him out. After turning the power back on, he quickly checked the stove without realizing cooked body parts were inside. Feeling suspicious about his visit, Coyne contacted the landlord to check up on the apartment.
Some unexpected guests would be sent to check the vicinity.
4. A Strong Suspicion
Police officers Liam McWhinney and Bryan Reid were called to make sure Volke wasn’t in trouble. The murderer slyly chatted with them for a moment about the pungent stench to get them off his case. As the conversation went on, the smell grew and grew, and it almost made the officers vomit.
3. A Grim Discovery
While Volke’s words were very plausible, the officers still weren’t convinced. They asked to search his apartment, but Volke slammed the door in their faces and attempted his escape. Unable to find him, the cops searched the apartment to discover Prasetyo’s body parts in the pot.
While these two were unearthing the horrors in the apartment, Volke decided to make the ultimate decision.

With 15 police officers surrounding him outside, Volke collapsed in a garbage bin while slitting his throat near the complex. Several cops to tried to revive the man with CPR, but it was already too late. A recent inquest revealed that the police weren’t responsible for the man’s death.

While most parents would want nothing but severe justice for their child’s murderer, Prasetyo’s mother Nining Sukarni actually forgave Volke for his heinous actions. With her eldest child’s remains safely buried back home in Indonesia, Sukarni can live peacefully knowing that Prasetyo is in a better place.
An average of three women are killed in the United States daily by their husbands, and this statistic will grow over the next several years. With the small percentage of affordable marriage counseling quickly dwindling, more problems, including those involving mental illnesses, will arise with supposedly happy marriages, both new and old.
