The H-1B program is one of the worst boondoggles the liberals have ever come up with and let’s face it, they are the Emperors of boondoggles. That is the visa program that has allowed American companies to fire American workers and to replace them with cheap foreign labor. Disney fired 250 American high tech workers and replaced them with cheap foreign labor even as the company was recording record profits. University of California San Francisco Medical Center, a California state rum facility fired 80 workers and replaced them with foreign labor. Large tech companies like Google, Facebook and Apple all use workers from the H-1B visa program. Even worse is that companies force their fired workers to train their replacements.
Enter Barack Obama who created the H4 visa and work permit program. He did this by Executive Order and without the Congress. The H4 visa allows the spouses of these foreign replacements to get jobs in the United States, further eroding the job market for Americans. President Trump is eliminating that program in order to return 80,000 jobs to American workers. Liberals are crying in their beer, saying that Trump deoes not have the power to end the program without consent of Congress but they had no problem with Obama creating the program without Congress.
The pro-American decision by President Donald Trump’s deputies will launch a lengthy regulatory process which will open up roughly 80,000 jobs to Americans graduates over the next two years.
In 2015, Obama’s deputies began awarding H4 work permits to the spouses of H-1B guest-workers who manage to get into the line for residency and green cards. The H4 program did not have any approval from Congress but was one part of Obama’s pro-immigration strategy.
Most of the H4 recipients are Indians because the per-country annual caps for green cards ensure that the many Indians in line must wait for several years while jumping from the H-1B program to green cards.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
The spouses of highly skilled foreign workers would no longer be able to work legally in the U.S. under a regulatory change proposed by the Trump administration on Thursday …
“This announcement places into jeopardy thousands of hardworking, contributing individuals who have started their own businesses—and often have U.S. citizen children—who will needlessly be forced to revert to a status of inactivity,” said Leon Fresco, an immigration attorney who worked for the Obama administration.
Hardworking, contributing individuals? What about the hard working Americans who lost their jobs to foreigners? Don’t they count? Not to liberals. Or to companies that throw a lot of money to the Democrats. If a private company pulled the shenanigans that the Democrats and tech companies play or the Democrats and labor unions pull, they would be prosecuted under the RICO Act.
The Washington-imposed economic policy of mass-immigration floods the market with foreign labor, spikes profits and Wall Street values by cutting salaries for manual and skilled labor offered by blue-collar and white-collar employees. It also drives up real estate prices, widens wealth-gaps, reduces high-tech investment, increases state and local tax burdens, hurts kids’ schools and college education, pushes Americans away from high-tech careers, and sidelines at least 5 million marginalized Americans and their families, including many who are now struggling with opioid addictions.
The cheap-labor policy has also reduced investment and job creation in many interior states because the coastal cities have a surplus of imported labor. For example, almost 27 percent of zip codes in Missouri had fewer jobs or businesses in 2015 than in 2000, according to a new report by the Economic Innovation Group. In Kansas, almost 29 percent of zip codes had fewer jobs and businesses in 2015 compared to 2000, which was a two-decade period of massive cheap-labor immigration.
Ending this program will go a long way towards making America great again but as long as the H-1B program lives, we will still be second class citizens in our own country. The reasoning behind the H-1B visas is not altogether bad. It was originally started to provide workers in areas we don’t have enough people to fill. However, companies use the loopholes in the bill to replace American workers and that isn’t right.
I have a solution. Let high tech workers register with the Department of Labor and before a company can bring in foreign workers, they have to get an okay. The DOL could then send them a list of American workers equipped for the job. Only if there are not enough workers registered could a company receive a waiver for foreign workers.
