SHOCKING: Chicago Woman Shot While Streaming on Facebook Live [RAW VIDEO]

It is a well-known fact that Chicago has some of the worst crime statistics in the country. It seems like every week there are numerous crimes committed and murders. It’s ironic considering Chicago is a “gun-free zone” and should be safe. That is, of course, a fairy tale and has no effect on criminals. A Chicago woman was shot on the South Side of the city Tuesday and the entire incident was captured on Facebook Live.

According to the Chicago Tribune:

A woman was shot in the arm Tuesday afternoon while live-streaming an argument with another woman on the South Side, according to Chicago police.

The victim, 27, was broadcasting on Facebook Live as she argued with a woman sitting in a car in the 6400 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Parkway Gardens neighborhood around 3 p.m., police said. The other woman pulled out a gun and fired, hitting the victim in the arm.

The shooting was widely circulated on social media by Tuesday evening, according to Chicago police officials. Detectives have the Facebook video and are in a “good position in the investigation,” chief police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.

“At this point, we have no reason to suspect the video is not authentic,” Guglielmi said. “The victim, in this case, knows the offender and we are working to locate.”

“What I can say is we believe this to be a domestic-related incident between two individuals that know each other,” Guglielmi said. “We do not believe there is any threat to the public as this stemmed from an earlier interaction between the two of them.”

Wikipedia stated: Crime in Chicago has been tracked by the Chicago Police Department‘s Bureau of Records since the beginning of the 20th century. The city’s overall crime rate, especially the violent crime rate, is substantially higher than the US average. Chicago was responsible for nearly half of 2016’s increase in homicides in the US, though national crime rates stayed near historic lows. The reasons for the higher numbers in Chicago remain unclear. An article in The Atlantic detailed how researchers and analysts had come to no real consensus on the cause for the violence.

Chicago experienced a major rise in violent crime starting in the late 1960s, a decline in overall crime in the 2000s, and then a rebound in overall murders the mid-2010s after Rahm Emanuel became mayor. Murder, rape, and robbery are common violent crimes in the city, and the occurrences of such incidents are documented by the Chicago Police Department and indexed in annual crime reports.

The victim is expected to be just fine, but I bet next time she won’t act so tough in the face of a gun. We live in a dangerous world and it’s never a good idea to poke a bear so to speak. Please share this story so people can see how not to react when faced with a similar situation.
