(Scroll down for video) A woman killed her friend because she wasn’t upset after her football team lost a game, according to police reports in Alabama.
The woman was angry because the victim and the others present at the time of the incident did not seem to be upset by the loss of the Crimson Tide in a game against Auburn.
Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, was charged on Monday with murder in the death of 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd.
The sister of the victim, Nekesa Shepherd said that she witnessed the killing and had no doubt it was over football, although it was not clear to investigators whether the violence was motivated by the game.
“That’s one of the things we are still investigating,” a police spokesperson said on Monday.
Nekesa Shepherd said that Briskey was furious when she saw the sisters and others joking that the loss of the Crimson Tide was not as bad.
“She said that they were not true fans of Alabama, and we were not bothered that they lost. Then, she started shooting,” Nekesa Shepherd said.
Shepherd said that she and her sister were invited to the party of a mutual friend, who also invited Briskey. About two dozen people were at the party.
Shepherd, a mother of three children, was gunned down in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the Birmingham suburb of Hoover, and the women did not know each other before the party.
