Judge in New Mexico Compound Case Now Accuses Prosecutors of Anti-Muslim Discrimination

Earlier this week, the American people learned how the New Mexico judge overseeing the case of the two alleged Muslim  extremists be released with just a signature bond and ankle monitor. It did not seem to matter to the judge that there was ample evidence proving that these men were a danger to community or that a young child was found dead on the property.

Nope.

Instead this liberal judge let these horrible men walk right on out and then had the audacity to side with the defense that these two men are being unfairly targeted since they are not “white” and “Christian”.

Seriously?

Here is more from Yahoo:

Backus, an elected Democrat, said her decision to grant release to house arrest, with conditions such as wearing ankle monitors, was tied to recent reforms of the state’s pre-trial detention system that set a high bar for incriminating evidence needed to hold suspects without bail.

Republican Governor Susana Martinez blasted the decision as well as the the ‘reforms’ the judge blamed.

New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez, a former district attorney, said Tuesday she “strongly disagreed” with the judge’s decision and renewed her criticism of rules for pre-trial detention that are determined in part by the state Supreme Court.

The Daily Caller reports:

“The defendants are apparently of the Muslim faith,” read the order. “The Court was asked by the State to make a finding of dangerousness and a finding of no conditions of release could ensure the safety of the community. The State apparently expected the court to take the individuals’ faith into account in making such a determination. The Court has never been asked to take any other person’s faith into account in making a determination of dangerousness. The Court is not aware of any law that allows the Court to take a person’s faith into consideration in making a dangerousness determination.”

“The state alleges there was a big plan afoot but the state has not shown to my satisfaction by clear and convincing evidence what in fact that plan was,” Backus said Monday, CNN reported. “The state wants me to make a leap and it’s a large leap and that would be to hold people in jail without bond based on — again — troubling facts but I didn’t hear any choate plan that was being alleged by the state.”

This is disgusting that these two men were allowed to be let out with such little supervision and then for the judge to go as far as to say this is discriminatory prosecution.

Both of these men should be sitting behind bars until their court date, but leave to liberals to allow them free to harm others.
