Democrats are so despicable!
From Louder With Crowder:
File this one under “She did what, now?” North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp, in an ad meant to hit her opponent where it hurts, penned an open letter aimed at her opponent, which included a long list of supposed sexual abuse survivors, signed at the bottom. Names released against their will. Some weren’t even victims of sexual assault. This one’s a head-scratcher:
In a statement Tuesday, Heitkamp (N.D.) said that her campaign “recently discovered that several of the women’s names who were provided to us did not authorize their names to be shared or were not survivors of abuse.”
“I deeply regret this mistake and we are in the process of issuing a retraction, personally apologizing to each of the people impacted by this and taking the necessary steps to ensure this never happens again,” the statement said.
It sounds as though the names were used based on people tagged in a Facebook post. The Heitkamp campaign isn’t a news outlet, so we can’t accuse them of fake news, but holy prairie dog, Batwoman.
Kady Miller, also of Bismarck, wrote on Facebook: “A lot of these people listed, including me, did not give anyone permission for our names to be posted. I don’t even support Heidi Heitkamp and I am not a domestic abuse survivor. Should this even be legal?? Using people’s names as part of your campaign??”
Losing sight of basic fact follow through is what happens when all you see is rage. Heitkamp is fighting to keep her position in the Senate, and likely her campaign staff thought taking aim at her male opponent, then listing a bunch of women’s names on an open letter, was a no-brainer. Well, I guess it was a “no-brainer.” But to release names like this, without permission or even any ties to surviving abuse, not only hurts the Heitkamp campaign, it hurts all legitimate efforts to end abuse. The Heitkamp campaign is watering down a legitimate cause by cheapening it and turning it into a political weapon.
But such is the Democrat way: use victims (or maybe not even victims) for politics first. Then be done with them. By the way, whatever happened to Christine Ford? Are the Democrats treating her right?
