We are sad to report that there was a shooting this morning at Butler High School in North Carolina, after a student was shot on campus inside one of the buildings, reports a Facebook post by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
“The single shooter has been apprehended and the weapon is in the possession of law enforcement,” said the CMS Facebook post.
“Law enforcement has advised that there is no further immediate danger at this time and initial investigation shows this to be an isolated incident.”
The wounded student has been taking to a hospital, the district said in a release.
CMS reported the lock down was lifted shortly after 9 a.m. and parents were being allowed to pick up their children.
The shooting occurred about 7:15 a.m., reported the Observer’s news partner WBTV.
