Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez could be in major trouble for violating House rules and it all stems from this.
The president’s son shared a meme that read “Why are you so afraid of a socialist economy” emblazoned over a photo of Ocasio-Cortez.
Over the picture of his dad it read “Because Americans want to walk their dogs, not eat them.”
He captioned it “It’s funny because it’s true.”

Ocasio-Cortez was not amused and decided that she would come back and threatened Donald Trump Jr. with a subpoena.
“I have noticed that Junior here has a habit of posting nonsense about me whenever the Mueller investigation heats up.
“Please, keep it coming Jr – it’s definitely a “very, very large brain” idea to troll a member of a body that will have subpoena power in a month.

Ocasio-Cortez thought she was being funny but in fact, she was in the wrong.
What she actually did was explicitly violate House rules on “Prohibition Against Linking Official Actions to Partisan or Political Considerations.”
The rule reads as follows, with emphasis on the pertinent portion of the text.
A solicitation for campaign or political contributions may not be linked with an official action taken or to be taken by a House Member or employee, and a Member may not accept any contribution that is linked with an action that the Member has taken or is being asked to take. A corollary of these rules is that Members and staff are not to take or withhold any official action on the basis of the campaign contributions or support of the involved individuals, or their partisan affiliation. Members and staff are likewise prohibited from threatening punitive action on the basis of such considerations.
Not a smart move.
