The FBI has closed it’s investigation of Stephen Paddock, who killed 58 and wounded almost 900, saying Paddock’s motive remains a mystery, as the Associated Press reports:
A high-stakes gambler who rained down a hail of gunfire, killing 58 people from his high-rise casino suite in Las Vegas wanted infamy and mass destruction, the FBI told the Associated Press Tuesday, but took whatever motive might stretch beyond that to his grave.
“It wasn’t about MGM, Mandalay Bay or a specific casino or venue,” said Aaron Rouse, the special agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office. “It was all about doing the maximum amount of damage and him obtaining some form of infamy.”
Rouse says Stephen Paddock acted alone when he planned and carried out the attack. The 64-year-old fatally shot himself after opening fire from his hotel suite.
Rouse says the reason for Paddock’s rampage remains a mystery after months of study by agents and behavioral specialists. Almost 900 people were injured during the Oct. 1, 2017, attack on an outdoor country music concert.
FBI concludes its investigation into the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history without determining a motive. After nearly 16 months, the agency says it can't determine why gunman Stephen Paddock killed 58 people in October 2017. https://t.co/7K5XHQtJrj

While not a conspiracy-minded person, this does seem odd.
Given all the resources devoted to this investigation either there is a lot we’re not being told, or the shooter was one of the smartest mass murderers of all time.
How else could he have covered his tracks so completely that the FBI claims it basically knows nothing about his rampage, or events leading up to it.
Again, this seems odd.
I know there's a school of thought out there that holds that it doesn't matter why he did it, but…I do not belong to that school. This is disturbing as all hell. https://t.co/TUlIChCpXw

There’s no way the smartest and most advanced investigative agency in the world has no inkling about a motive. https://t.co/xVqVfV60me

This really says it all:
