The internet was rocked on early Tuesday when the Feds released indictments against 50 people for engaging in a $250 million scheme to bribe top universities in the country to allow their children into Ivy League schools.
The massive scandal has caught a number of business people, rich people, and of course American celebrities. One celebrity that has been caught up in this huge disgrace is from the popular 90’s family sitcom “Full House” Lori Loughlin, otherwise known as Aunt Becky.
Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli are accused of spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to get their two daughters designated as University of Southern California crew team recruits — despite never participating in crew.
However, if that was not bad enough a new report released last evening shows just how sleazy this case is.
Page Six reports that one of the couple’s daughters, Olivia Jade Giannulli, didn’t exactly use her (allegedly) ill-gotten admission for academic betterment:
Giannulli in September last year posted sponsored content on Instagram for Amazon Prime, featuring a photo of her in her new dorm room at the University of Southern California with the caption: “Officially a college student! It’s been a few weeks since I moved into my dorm and I absolutely love it. I got everything I needed from Amazon with @primestudent and had it all shipped to me in just two-days” […]
Before Olivia Jade went off to college in 2018, she generated controversy by posting to her popular YouTube channel that she didn’t “really care about school” but wanted the “experience” of “partying.”
“I don’t know how much of school I’m gonna attend,” she told her nearly 2 million subscribers, according to Yahoo News.
“But I’m gonna go in and talk to my deans and everyone, and hope that I can try and balance it all. But I do want the experience of like game days, partying…I don’t really care about school, as you guys all know.”
After the inevitable backlash of people calling her spoiled, ungrateful, and probably a few less-polite things, Giannulli apologized (sort of):
“I said something super ignorant and stupid, basically. And it totally came across that I’m ungrateful for college — I’m going to a really nice school. And it just kind of made it seem like I don’t care, I just want to brush it off. I’m just gonna be successful at YouTube and not have to worry about school,” she said in the video. “I’m really disappointed in myself.”
She “made it seem like” she was brushing school off? Not that she got caught admitting that’s exactly what she intended?
