BOMBSHELL: AG Barr Appoints Special Investigator To Investigate Spying Into Trump

Elder Patriot’s Opinion| Attorney General William Barr has taken the first step in making good on his promise to determine the origins of the Russia investigation and determine if intelligence collection involving the Trump campaign was “lawful and appropriate.”

Barr has assigned, John Durham, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Connecticut to determine to conduct the investigation.

Durham became known for leading the inquiry into allegations that FBI agents and Boston police had ties with the mob in the Whitey Bulger case.

He also served as the special prosecutor during the 2005 CIA interrogation tapes destruction.

President Donald Trump nominated Durham to be Connecticut’s U.S. Attorney in November 2017. He was confirmed voice vote in February of 2018. He was sworn in on February 22, 2018.

Durham’s previous experience investigation law enforcement corruption is among the reasons that Barr selected him to lead this probe.

Early this year it was learned that Durham’s office was investigating former FBI General Counsel James Baker for unauthorized disclosures to the media.

The scope of Durham’s assignment is limited and would bring the number of investigations to four:

  • Durham’s,
  • U.S. Attorney for Utah John Huber who was appointed by Barr’s successor Jeff Sessions
  • Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s, and
  • The Senate Judiciary Committee’s investigation.

It’s understandable that Trump supporters are skeptical that there’s anyone who can be trusted to actually expose the Obama-era weaponization of our intelligence agencies but of the four investigations now underway, Durham is a Trump appointee and IG Michael Horowitz was frozen out from doing his job by the Obama administration’s Sally Yates.
