We try not to interject too much opinion here, but Ilhan Omar makes me want to be sick to my stomach.
PTSD is not something to be laughed at or mocked. I served proudly, and aside from a little bit of a hearing issue, I have made it out of that situation alright. So many of my brothers and sisters in arms did not.
One of my best friends is a guy I met while on active duty and he was in a little bit longer than I was. He and his family came and visit for New Year’s. I forgot, and he didn’t know that some people behind our house were going to be lighting off fireworks for what seemed like hours to me, and what might have been an eternity for him.
The fireworks started going off, and about a half minute in without warning, he retreated to a walk-in closet in our home that’s relatively soundproof to anything that isn’t within three feet of it. He stayed there for hours. To make fun of someone that has to go through someone like that is just sickening.
Our country’s military men and women put their lives in harm’s way so that our country can remain “land of the free and home of the brave.” That’s why it’s so utterly disgusting to see these two haters of everything America stands for start laughing and whooping it up while the deaths of American troops were being discussed at a live press conference.
Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), was discussing U.S. troops being killed.
“I’m very glad to say that I was part of the 132 and also the vote for Barbara Lee’s amendment, but I think that the point of that is that that is the same war that we’re dealing with today,” Lee said. “We never solved any problems with AUMF, we left 4,000-plus, maybe even 4400 dead, and over 60,000 who came back injured in some form and the war never ended.”
Rather than stand silently behind her colleague as she spoke, Omar became a distraction when she starting laughing and turned all the way around to talk to Rep. Rashida Tlaib, who was also laughing.

Then, Omar had the audacity to joke about suffering from “PTSD.”
First, Omar claimed she “felt ill” because of “everything that is taking place” in the Middle East. The Somali refugee had taken Iran’s side in the conflict with the United States.
“This makes no sense. Sanctions are economic warfare,” the Minnesota Democrat said Wednesday. “They have already caused medical shortages and countless deaths in Iran. You cannot claim to want deescalation and then announce new sanctions with no clear goal. This is not a measured response!”
“And I think every time I hear about … I hear of conversations around war, I find myself being stricken with PTSD,” she said. “And I find peace knowing that I serve with great advocates for peace and people who have shown courage against war.”
Rep. Jim Banks, a Republican who served in Afghanistan, said Omar’s comments were a “disgrace,” calling the remarks “offensive to our nation’s veterans who really do have PTSD after putting their life on the line to keep America safe.”

Well, the anti-Semitic Congresswoman was in for a rude awakening.
