Liberal Wisconsin Democrat Governor Tony Evers continues to take a tremendous beating in court decisions. Of course, his main purpose is to limit the rights of citizens within his states when it comes to the Wuhan flu, so it’s probably a good thing that he can’t seem to get a win in the courts. Hia measures keep getting struck down.
For example, on May 13, 2020, Governor Evers’ “stay at home” COVID order was struck down by the WI Supreme Court.
On October 23, 2020, Governor Evers had some attempts to limit large gatherings in his state, but they were struck down by a Wisconsin appeals court.
On February 4, 2021, the Wisconsin state legislature repealed the governor’s statewide mask mandate.
Just recently, on March 31, the WI Supreme Court declared that Evers had overstepped his authority when he issued numerous public health emergencies.
Finally, the most recent incident is yet another blow for the far-left governor. It seems that the conservative-leaning WI court has voted 4-3 to declare Governor Evers’ statewide mask mandate as null and void. Part of the reason that the court voted this way is that they feel he violated state law by using emergency orders to artificially inflate the initial 60-day mandate.
“The main question that we have in this case is not whether the WI Governor acted in a wise manner; it is whether the governor acted lawfully. As a court, we have concluded that he did not.
Of course, there are still plenty of local mask mandates in such places as Milwaukee and Dane County. However, making the statewide mask order null and void will not spread the mask mandate far and wide.
GOP lawmakers applauded this ruling. Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu stated that Evers was abusing his power and the court’s decision was more devoted to the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches.
“The governor repeatedly abused the emergency powers and caused a pervasive violation of many different state statutes. He created a state of chaos that we needed to stop,” LeMahieu stated. Governor Evers even extended the mask mandate four times, even after the GOP repealed it!
