One convenience store clerk taught a would-be thief a huge lesson that he won’t forget.
Jon Lewis Alexander, a 54-year-old military veteran who worked as a convenience store clerk in Beer 30 liquor store in Marionville, Missouri when one man entered the store started smoking. He told the said man that smoking is not allowed inside the establishment but “He just took another puff and looked me dead in the eyes, like he was Billy Badass,” Alexander told the Daily News.
The man’s mistakes began piling up from that second on and demanded “You need to give me all your f–king money.”
The CCTV video shows that the would-be thief started to raise his pistol, but Alexander is quicker to move as he covers the man’s gun with one hand and swings his own pistol to the thug’s face with the other.
He then remembers saying “You need to get the f–k out of here before I blow your f–king head off.”
When the man realized how serious the situation he created, he started to back away toward the door. While the man was walking away he aims the gun until he was no longer in his sight.
He explained that he decided not to kill the man since he had lowered his weapon and retreated.
“I’ve been around weapons and been around danger a lot,” he said. “It didn’t really bug me that much.”
He shared that he worked quite a few “high-risk” jobs, including a position as a corrections officer, a job as a private investigator, and serving four tours in Iraq.
The store is owned by Jeannine and Max Dawson who were astonished at how Alexander handled the situation. “I was like, ‘Holy s–t,’” Dawson said. “That’s awesome.”
“Everybody’s not such an easy target,” he said. “People still are afraid, and they need to realize, hey, it’s okay to fight back.” As he hoped that his encounter with the armed robber will encourage others to stop being victims. Anyone can learn to properly use a firearm for self-defense.
