Former President Donald Trump called for a diplomatic end to the war in Ukraine Monday, which he said must happen before “everyone is dead.”
On the 55th day of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Trump called for an end to the war that has killed more than 2,000 Ukrainian civilians, according to the United Nations. While saying the countries’ leaders should come to an “agreement.”
In a statement released by his PAC, the former president urged immediate negotiations:
“It doesn’t make sense that Russia and Ukraine aren’t sitting down and working out some kind of an agreement. If they don’t do it soon, there will be nothing left but death, destruction, and carnage. This is a war that never should have happened, but it did. The solution can never be as good as it would have been before the shooting started, but there is a solution, and it should be figured out now—not later—when everyone will be DEAD!”

Since the invasion began in February, there have been several peace negotiations between Ukrainian and Russian diplomats, but no clear conclusion has been reached.
Throughout Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Trump made headlines for his comments, prompting a bipartisan backlash.
Previously, in regards to Putin’s preparations for Russia’s Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, Trump has come under fire for referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “genius.”
Putin, according to the former president, would have kept out of Ukraine if he had been in charge of our country.
Trump slammed Biden on what he could do to alleviate the problem regarding the conflict.
Trump said, “We have to have Biden stop saying that — and this is for everyone to hear — that we will not attack Russia ever because they are a nuclear power, right? Do you know who is saying this? Okay, whether it’s fact or fiction, ‘We will not attack Russia. You see, they are a nuclear power.’ Oh, thanks for telling us.”
In March, a HarrisX poll released found that likely voters more or less agreed with Trump in a report by the Newsweek:
The data, from a HarrisX poll shared exclusively with Newsweek, concludes that while 42 percent of voters say that Trump’s policies are “more to blame about the Russian invasion of Ukraine,” 58 percent blame Biden. The poll results largely break down along party lines; among independents, 66 percent blame Biden and 34 percent blame Trump.
