A chair listed on Facebook Marketplace by a woman in Oklahoma City went popular almost instantly due to its highly obvious discolouration that looks like the shape of a person who sat there.
In an effort to get $100 in a hurry, DeAnna “DeDe” Whitlock Yingling, 52, had listed her favorite chair for sale on 30 March last year.
The distinctive staining on the chair that gives it the appearance that someone had sat in it for years and possibly even died in it is what caused the post to go viral, not its price or Ms. Yingling’s Facebook page.
Ms. Yingling insisted was beautiful and had nothing wrong with it, she added that she was changing the style of her home and it no longer matched.
Within 24 hours of being listed, Ms. Yingling’s chair went popular online. The majority of individuals, however, were utterly repulsed by the chair, although one is said to have made an incredible $500 bid for it.
In a statement, Yingling said:
“The story behind the chair is a bit of an odd one because I never noticed an image of any kind, I purchased it from someone else on Marketplace, and it has been sat in my living room for a long time, and no one has ever said anything about it. I listed it online, and the following morning, my sister sent me a text to tell me that it was blowing up on Facebook.”
“A friend even texted me saying our very own Mayor David Holt of Oklahoma City even commented on the chair on Twitter, saying it deserved a broader audience, I didn’t have a Twitter account, but now I do,” she added.
Now, the armchair serves as the model for many memes that are still being shared on social media, with several internet users have expressed their thoughts and sentiments about the object up for sale:
One individual made a joke about how Trump likely used that chair to send all of his tweets.
“Wow, how did you get hold of Trump’s chair?”
“I may buy it and create a haunted room in my house. Old baby dolls and the grandpa ghost chair,” one user wrote.
“Someone died in this mofo,” add another.
A third one wrote, “Nothing wrong with it, just an atomic bomb took out the person sitting on it, as you can see the person’s silhouette was printed on the chair.”
“I think this should be Biden’s new chair, it fits him perfectly,” Said one.
