The men and women of the armed forces truly do make so many sacrifices for our country. That is why stories of everyday citizens helping these people in uniform are so important to share.
A man named Brad was sitting on a plane, waiting for it to take off, when he glanced up and noticed a soldier in uniform walk aboard. The soldier made his way through the cabin and found an empty seat next to Brad.
US Army soldier was returning home from overseas service to take a vacation with his family and celebrate his son’s birthday when a stranger struck up a conversation with him in the airport.
Brad greeted the soldier, whose last name was Glascott. Together they discussed seeing his children and the vacation they had planned, they exchanged contact details and continued their journeys. But when the flight was over, the two parted ways.
Glascott felt good about the conversation he had with the businessman but didn’t think about it again after he saw his family waiting for him waiting at the gate.
Glascott and his family traveled shortly after to Great Wolf Lodge as planned. When checking in with the receptionist, the soldier was surprised to hear that there was a note on his account from a man named Brad. Neither Glascott nor his wife knew any Brads, or how he would know about their trip. So what could this random note possibly be about?
But then the receptionist broke into a smile. She said, “You have a message on your account from Brad.”
Glascott could not for the life of him figure out who this Brad was. It was a mystery, and the family was puzzled. Plus, they had not figured out what the note was about yet. And that still worried Glascott who was used to doing everything for his family without the support of anyone else.
The receptionist told Glascott that Brad was sending his good wishes to the family from Atlanta. And that’s when things clicked for the soldier. Brad was the rich businessman he had met on the plane.
It made his heart glad that Brad had thought enough of them to leave a nice note. However, it was what the soldier found out next that really threw him for a loop!
Glascott then handed the receptionist his credit card, ready to pay the balance for his family’s stay at the lodge. The receptionist told him that his money was no good here, confusing Glascott completely. It turns out that his account had already been paid in full… by Brad! The businessman knew how happy Glascott was to be going home, and wanted him to enjoy his time with his family free of charge. The soldier really couldn’t believe what had happened…
Glascott’s wife couldn’t believe Brad’s surprise either! She was used to people thanking her husband for his service, but never anything like this. She was truly happy and overcome with the emotion that a stranger would think enough of them to pull something like this off. The family was now able to enjoy their stay at the resort free of charge! The story truly served as a great lesson for others too…
