Don’t mess with Texas.
A few days after Christmas, an attempted robber decided to pull out his gun and hold up a Houston café. He quickly realized why this was a bad idea. The Texas store owner grabbed the revolver out of the would-be robber’s grasp and turned it on him, preventing him from collecting the money he was after. Then, when the would-be robber fled from the Texan with a gun, the café owner fired a couple of shots at him.
It was a little before 11:00 a.m. A gang of three young guys returned to Bambu Desserts & Drinks on Thursday, December 28, 2018, with ill intentions. The owner knew the group from a few days earlier. The suspect pulled a gun upon entering the property and ordered that the victim empty a safe.
The owner of the business realized he needed to act with courage if he wanted to survive as he was afraid for his life since the criminal aimed the gun at him and threatened to kill him. “I thought I was going to die. He told me he was gonna shoot me,” the owner said. “The gun could’ve went off, and it would have shot into my stomach. And that’s a .357, so I would have been dead.”
The owner started to open the safe but decided to take the robber’s firearm instead after realizing that it was being held close to his stomach. After a brief struggle, the owner was able to wrestle the revolver away. Six shots were fired by him, shattering the storefront’s glass, but they missed all of the evading suspects.
After the commotion, three suspects have been taken into custody as a result of the cafe owner’s bravery. Employees claimed that two people were waiting outside the café in a getaway car, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The three suspects, including the man who attempted to rob the cafe, were arrested a short time later.
“The guy’s an idiot,” the owner of the cafe said of the suspect.
“He even told the cop … when the cop grabbed the gun from the counter and he brought it into the car, he said the suspect said: ‘Can I have my gun back?’”
Who the hell gets handcuffed in the back of a squad car and asks the officer if he can get his pistol back? He has no right to possess a firearm.
Gun legislation may be able to prevent criminals like this one from possessing firearms. This armed robber would never have been able to lawfully obtain a pistol if an intelligence test had been necessary.
