A migrant who was still on bail for raping a teenage girl has gone ahead to sexually assault two other girls. Meanwhile, his lawyer continues to defend his horrible acts contesting his client didn’t understand the “culture of this country.”
Zohair Tomari, a migrant who claims to be from Syria has been sentenced to 12 years and 9 months in prison after he abducted and sexually abused two girls, aged 13 and 14, while on bail for the rape of another teenager.
According to reports, Tomari who now says he is from Syria but claimed to be a migrant from Morocco in his pre-sentencing report invited his 17-year-old victim and her 15-year-old friend to his flat after befriending them.
Once inside the Coventry apartment, the migrant gave them alcohol before slapping and punching the pair before drawing a knife, with which he threatened the older girl to “be careful” or she would be taken to a suburb of Coventry, Hillfields, to “open [her] legs for anyone”.
The court heard how, as he undid his belt, Tomari told the teen that the more she cried, the more he would hit her, before proceeding to rape her.
Police arrived at the migrant’s apartment after the 15-year-old was reported missing, at which point the older girl informed officers of the incident in private.
But Tomari was granted bail and went on to traffick two girls aged just 13 and 14, as they walked to a friend’s home in August.
With his lawyer to the rescue, barrister Jason Pegg argued that “He perhaps did not understand the culture of this country.”
Of course, Judge Andrew Lockhart is not dumb to accept such an alibi, he refuses to accept it.
“Behavior of this nature is abhorred in virtually every civilized country on this earth,” said Lockhart in response.
“I am driven to conclude you are dangerous,” Lockhart added while sentencing Tomari to prison and ordering him to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. “I can see no end to the danger you pose.”
With this, Tomari was sentenced to 12 years and nine months in prison for his crimes.
According to Opposing Views, many people expressed dissatisfaction with Tomari’s punishment.
“Why does he have to register as a sex offender for life?” wrote one Daily Mail reader. “Surely he is not going to remain here after he has served his sentence. In fact what is he doing here now. It is high time we had a reciprocal deportation law with all other countries. If non British people living here commit crimes, they should be sentenced and then returned to their country of origin to serve their sentence and vice versa.”
“Home Office say they will consider deportation give me strength!” wrote another. “This should be automatic – the vile specimen of a member of the human race has by his voluntary actions taken himself beyond the protection of the UK and for the safety of everyone else must be deport – no ifs or buts. I see an asylum claim being lodged…and at our expense. Sometimes the law can be a right a**.”
“Full 12 years to be served, Syria to foot the bill, then deport the scum,” chimed in a third.
Others argued against such proposals.
“And who exactly in Syria is to foot the bill,” shot back one person to the latter comment. “Maybe the USA and [UK] for prolonging the war which is why this scum bag was able to come here.”
