There’s always a little anxiety that goes into any vacation.
What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation with one’s family turned into a nightmare.
Usually, Disney World is the frontrunner on people’s must-go lists, with the more remote places considered to be more desirable–as the saying goes “The Happiest Place On Earth.” Well, there’s something very special, very unique feeling about the thought of spending at the Disney Parks. Somehow, these happy, magical places always feel like home.
Disney is famous for its parks that bring our favorite characters to life. They are well known for making magical movies that are enjoyed by both children and adults.
Anyone entering Disney World temporarily forgets all of their worries. For guests of all ages, the characters, rides, parades, fireworks, and food create a fantastic atmosphere. Children have a blast on exhilarating rides, and adults experience childhood all over again.
If you want to feel pure happiness, laughter, and joy, you must visit Disney World with your family, friends, or even alone—that’s what Christina Streble did.
Leaving Streble’s family worries and daily life at the edge of Disney when a horrifying incident happened, instead of entering a land of fun, fantasy and imagination, they ended up in a hospital with a worst-case scenario!
According to Click Orlando, while visiting Walt Disney World while on vacation in Central Florida, Christina Streble and her family found that bites started appearing on their body. Since they were in a warm area, they initially believed the bites were brought on by mosquitoes, but they realized it had to be something else when more appeared over the following several days.
“It’s a nightmare,” Streble said. “The kids have a hard time sleeping because they keep thinking something is crawling on them.”
In 2015, the family spent the week of June 13–June 19 at the resort. They noticed bites all over their daughters’ arms while they were busy enjoying the theme parks and initially believed they were caused by mosquitoes.
Describing the discomfort suffered by her children, Christina Streble a mother of four children said, “We counted 206 bites on our older daughter and 125 bites on our middle daughter. They were red and inflamed.”
The family said that they were staying at Oak Plantation Resort in Kissimmee when they made a startling discovery. Christina and her husband decided to lift up the mattress in suspicion, at that point, disgusting and horrible Watermelon seed-sized bed bugs that were notoriously difficult to eradicate were found on the mattress!
“The doctor that saw our daughters said that this was the worst case of bed bugs that he had ever seen,” said Christina. “This has been a nightmare.”
The family then filed a consumer complaint with the department of business and professional regulation, but nothing was done, despite Christina Stebler’s husband alerting the management about the problem.
Inspectors from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation confirmed that bed bugs were found in the room after the family’s complaint.
The resort said the bed bugs were confined to one room, and that room has now been treated. They called it an isolated incident.
“We are a 242-unit property. Last weekend, we were at 96 percent occupancy, and this is the only complaint that came out of this resort, so we are a great family friendly resort with a great staff close to Disney, so please don’t let this scare you off,” resort spokeswoman Grace Velez said.
The family has not yet requested compensation, according to the resort, but they do want to get in touch with them and make an offer of a refund or a free week.
The resort has reportedly been the subject of two further bed bug allegations since 2013, but the state inspector has not discovered any of them, the state records read.
