Some creeps will go out of their way to bother or grope waiters and waitresses.
I’ll never get people who think that they can invade someone’s personal space without being annoying, rude, or disgusting.
Like when people creep up behind you and put their arms around your shoulders, or when they poke their heads into your space to check what you’re eating, or when they peer at your computer screen while you’re working without asking whether what you’re looking at is something you’d rather people not see.
Even worse are individuals who, especially in circumstances where it is wholly inappropriate, feel free to randomly touch or grope you. If you like the way someone is grinding on you in a club while intoxicated, you will grind back. If you and another individual are having a good time and they start becoming intimate, reciprocate if you like it.
I’m sorry, but if you’re a customer at a restaurant, the only thing you should be grabbing is a chicken club sandwich, not your server’s butt.
And after they do it, people always have the same dumb grin on their faces.
Now, Clarence H. Locke Jr. and his wife had just arrived at a booth in the restaurant, when his wife got up to use the restroom.
Locke, 65, was ordering drinks from waitress Jayme Adair, 23 when he leaned out of the booth and struck her behind.
The waitress recalled, “The customer and his wife came in together. I didn’t recognize him by his face, but when he walked in he said, ‘Hello Jayme.’”
Adair told WKTV, “I get their drink order, I turn to walk away and he reaches out of the booth, almost falls out of the booth and tries, and hits my butt, and I was just in shock,” She reported the incident to her manager right away, who ordered the man to leave the establishment. “I never had something like that happen to me.”
The waitress, who has worked at the restaurant for five years said, “It made me feel embarrassed, it was degrading, it made me feel…it made me feel like I did something wrong and I know I didn’t do anything wrong, so many women go through this and it is not fair. I did nothing wrong and I did not deserve that.”
Locke was arrested 90 minutes later after police identified him on the CCTV footage.
Unless the victim is under 18 or it is not the attacker’s first conviction for a sex-related offense, the violation does not require a person to register as a sex offender upon conviction, Locke was accused of forceful touching, a Class A misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail or three years of probation, according to Fox News.
“It bothered me because I have been in a relationship since I was in high school, and I have never had a guy do something like that to me. One of my co-workers said, ‘I’m so happy you are sticking up for yourself because the same thing has happened to me a few times.’ I have had comments before, but they were not vulgar like that. I want to make sure he is actually punished because it is not something minor to me – it bothers me,” Jayme Adair, who is dating 25-year-old artist Joseph Wright said.
“Working women are sick and tired of being subjected to this kind of abuse, Why someone would think that they could touch these people like that defies logic,” said Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara.
