A young woman says she was disinvited from a good friend’s wedding simply because she looked “too good” in her bridesmaid dress.
The fashion model from Heidelberg, Germany, called Alena, claims her friend actually picked out the dress for her to wear and then rescinded her invite to the wedding on the grounds that she looked… well, fabulous.
That’s when she decided to share her experience on TikTok. She was looking for sympathy from other people since the bride had picked the very dress that left her feeling jealous of the friend.
Taking to TikTok, Alena (@alenayildiz) wrote: “My close friend uninvited me to her wedding because she thought I looked too good in the dress SHE chose for me.”
The video immediately went viral and has now been watched by over 5.8 million people and has reached 1.6 million likes.
In the photo, Alena can be seen wearing a blue and tan low-cut gown which is embellished head-to-toe in sequins.
Defending Alena, one viewer wrote: “SHE’S the one who chose the dress so she could’ve just asked you to change your dress instead of rudely uninviting you.”
In agreement, a second said: “As your friend, she should want you to look beautiful. If she was secure and confident, she wouldn’t feel intimidated at her own wedding. So sad.”
“I’d want always my friends to dress up like they’re going to the Met Gala or a red carpet,” a third commented.

People on Facebook were also outraged by the bride’s actions, and many of them called her “crazy,” while others said she was “jealous” and “selfish.” Some people even said that the bride was just “being a Bridezilla.”
“That is so rude! You should wear that to the wedding. It looks awesome. She must be insecure about something for her to act like that. I would never do that to my friend!!” one Facebook user wrote.
“That is so rude! If she didn’t want you to wear that particular dress, she should have said something beforehand and not waited until the last minute when it was too late for you to find another dress. You are beautiful just the way you are!” another user chimed in.
There are a lot of unanswered questions in this story, like why the bride didn’t just demand a dress change or demote her friend from bridesmaid to guest. It’s also unclear why Alena’s looks were suddenly a problem as if the friend went all these years without realizing her good pal was an Ariana Grande look-alike.
