MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell announced his bid to run as chairman of the Republican National Committee on Monday, mounting a challenge to Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel, whom he says has “failed” the GOP after the party’s lackluster midterm performance.

His announcement comes just days after the MyPillow CEO hinted at a long-shot bid to run against McDaniel, noting Republicans need someone who “knows how to run a business” at the helm of the party.

“We’ve got to save our country. We can’t have the RNC out there if they can’t change,” Lindell said during an interview on his web program, “The Lindell Report.”

“I’ve said it before, they need to change what they’re doing based on the current footprint in the country. You need a different input to get a different output.”

Lindell’s proposition comes after Ronna McDaniel, the RNC chair since 2017, signaled her intention to seek to lead the party for a fourth term.

“Guys, if you support me running against Ronna McDaniel, please email me,” Lindell said in an earlier interview. He said he wants to hear all feedback, including negative.

“I’ll step into that if God willing,” he added.

From The Gateway Pundit:

The committee is scheduled to elect its next leader during its winter meeting in January. McDaniel has signaled she’d run for reelection, and a letter circulated by about 100 members of the RNC showed they would back her run.

Lindell doubled down on his criticism of the GOP for its handling of the 2018, 2020, and 2022 elections in a subsequent interview with CBS News.

“You need a different input to get a different output. That’s business 101,” the Minnesotan told the publication.

Lindell, a staunch Trump supporter, said he made his decision to run irrespective of the former president’s endorsement.
