Fox News has “soft blacklisted” Donald Trump, according to his campaign, because the Murdoch family wants to “move on” from the previous president. The soft ban was first mentioned in Semafor, which interviewed four members of Mr. Trump’s “close circle” who spoke on the record under the condition of anonymity. According to one of the insiders, everyone is aware of the bans, which “indicate how the Murdochs feel about Trump at this specific time.”
Mr. Trump last appeared on Fox News in November, when he formally declared his candidacy. During his final weekday appearance on the network in September, the former president reportedly told Sean Hannity that he could declassify records simply by “thinking about it.”
Mr. Trump hasn’t been seen on Fox News since last year, but it has given potential rivals a platform.
According to Media Matters statistics, Nikki Haley appeared on the network seven times since declaring her presidential candidacy, according to the Semafor research. Vivek Ramaswamy, a little-known politician, has appeared four times on the network, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been a regular for weeks.
The network has been working harder in order to “provide more fair coverage, or fair airtime,” according to a Trump advisor.
“I don’t think they’re attempting to change their strategy, but they are trying to placate and quiet some of that criticism,” the speaker said.
One of the publication’s staff members claimed to have learned the former president had been “soft blacklisted” directly from Fox News. Despite the alleged prohibition, Mr. Trump appears to be attempting to book appearances on the network in the coming weeks.
The Murdochs have made it clear that they want to move on from Trump, so it is expected that Fox will not have Trump on for an interview. Fox is demonstrating that by not airing him, according to one of the GOP sources, who informed the news source.
There is some evidence that such a restriction is reasonable; among the documents released in the defamation case, Dominion Voting Systems v. Fox News were Rupert Murdoch’s orders to “make Trump a non-person” in the aftermath of the Congressional riot.
Mr. Trump, predictably, was enraged by this news and rushed to his Truth Social page to issue a statement labeling Mr. Murdoch a RINO and urging him to leave the “News Industry.”
“If Rupert Murdoch honestly believes that the 2020 Presidential Election was not rigged and stolen, despite MASSIVE amounts of evidence to the contrary, then he & his group of MAGA Hating Globalist RINOS should get out of the news business as soon as possible because they are using FAKE NEWS to aid & abet the DESTRUCTION OF AMERICA,” Mr. Trump wrote.
On Thursday, he went on to criticize Murdoch, saying he should “apologize to his viewers and readers for his foolish support of the 2020 Presidential Election,” before repeating his usual election-related lies.
How many different kinds of rigging and cheating must he witness? He should also fire the anchors who made mistakes or were afraid to speak up (there were many! ), and he should apologize to those who got it right. “It’s time to get rid of Fake News and call it what it is,” he wrote.
