Tennessee Democrats screamed foul — literally — on Thursday when the state House decided to eject two of the three liberal lawmakers who led an invasion of the Capitol to demand gun control legislation only days after a transgender shooter massacred six people at a Christian school in Nashville.
According to The New York Times, Reps. Justin Jones of Nashville and Justin Pearson of Memphis were expelled for their roles in inciting the mob that invaded the Capitol. Rep. Gloria Johnson of Knoxville, another Democrat participating in the riot, was defeated by one vote.
The three “knowingly and intentionally brought disorder and dishonor to the House of Representatives through their individual and collective actions,” according to the expulsion motions submitted by state House Republicans, and “generally engaged in disorderly and disruptive conduct.”

Expulsion required a two-thirds vote in the 99-seat house.
On March 30, anti-gun and pro-trans protesters entered the chambers and disrupted legislative proceedings, as well as assaulted Tennessee State Troopers who had been sent in to ensure members could get to the rooms securely in the first place.

The floor of the chamber had to be cleared.
Despite the security concern they helped create, including attacks on police officers, the three politicians remained obstinate. On Thursday, they made an inadvertently funny entry into the House chamber:

Protesters, apparently ignorant that invading a government institution is no longer considered a good look by the left, were also present:

As the voting took place, the video showed activists in the chamber yelling “fascists”:

According to Fox News, protesters chanted “No more silence, end gun violence,” and “Free, free, free, free the Tennessee Three,” in addition to accusations of fascism (which, let’s face it, are strange at a democratically conducted procedure condemning lawmakers who led a violent mob — violent mobs are usually a feature of fascism, not democracy).
The Tennessee State Capitol protest was the most violent of three state capitol rallies held in the days following the murder of six people, including three children, at The Covenant School in Nashville by 28-year-old Audrey Hale.

The other two protests, in Florida and Kentucky, were motivated by leftist fury over legislation regarding transgender-related issues affecting minors.

Now for the huge irony. According to The Tennesseean on Wednesday, “House leadership later likened the trio’s behavior to an ‘insurgency,’ a characterization House Democrats decried last week.”
Oh, now we’re complaining about the indiscriminate use of the term “insurgency.”
Don’t get me wrong: using the same strategies as your adversary might be unproductive. “Do unto others as they do unto you,” as the Golden Rule of politics goes. However, by using the I-word, it implicitly validates the left’s bluster about the US Capitol incursion.
We now know what we thought all along, according to freshly released footage of the events of January 6: there was no “insurgency,” “threat to democracy,” or anything of the sort. A swarm of mayhem tourists, aided by matador-like security essentially waving them into the Capitol Building, caused moderate havoc, which was later put to rest by the National Guard. That’s all there is to it.
Instead, we formed a kangaroo panel to investigate what happened that day. Several lawmakers have burst into tears as a result of what happened. It has been compared to 9/11.
But when the same thing happens in multiple state capitols? Hold those fists high, “Tennessee Three”! No “threat to democracy” here, despite the obvious physical threat posed to lawmakers and law enforcement by the protests — and certainly not an “insurrection.”
Oh, and now that two of the three politicians have been ejected, there’s a new complaint: the two who were expelled were black, while the one who was almost expelled was white. According to National Review, Johnson, who will keep her seat, stated that the vote “might have something to do with the color of our skin.”
“It’s always something,” says Gilda Radner’s “Saturday Night Live” character Roseanne Rosanna Danna. Just not insurgency or a threat to democracy this time.
